Call for Co-editors and Editorial Board Members
at the Anthropology Matters Journal
Dear colleagues and early-career scholars,
The outgoing editors of Anthropology Matters Journal are issuing a call for one new co-editor, as well as an editorial board, consisting of five-six members that will represent different areas of theoretical and ethnographic specialisation.
Anthropology Matters Journal is the official early-career journal of the Association of Social Anthropologists of the UK. Along with the Anthropology Matters mailing list, the Journal is part of the ASA’s postgraduate network and has been online since 2002. The Journal publishes research-based manuscripts of 6000 – 8000 words that fall within the purview of social and cultural anthropology, as well as both solicited and unsolicited book reviews. We accept submissions on a rolling basis, as well as queries on special issues/sections from conference and panel organisers and other formats, including interviews and conference reports. Please visit www.anthropologymatters.com to see examples of the work featured by the Journal.
The main responsibilities of the co-editors are:
- assessing manuscript submissions' suitability for the Journal and securing relevant reviewers
- feeding back reviewers' comments to authors
- suggesting points of improvement for manuscripts
- organising themed issues (usually in collaboration with conference organisers)
- communicating with a team of copyeditors, proofreaders, and designers
- communicating with committee members of ASA and participating in meetings
The main responsibilities of the editorial board members are:
- encouraging new submissions
- organising themed issues
- raising the Journal's profile (e.g. through social media)
- supporting the co-editors in different stages of the editorial process
